What is an Intervention?
An intervention can be facilitated in a number of ways depedning on the condition and evironment surrounding ther person in need of help. For individuals suffering from a psychotic or thougth disorder and experiencing anosognosia, “there’s nothing wrong me” or struggling with a severe addictions condition, the tv model of intervention with someone showing up on the proverbial white horse fails as often as not. In these cases, settin hard limits and restricting resources is often a path we guide families down supporting their strength in holding the line so that the person turns to care. There are times when involuntary commitment is the gateway to much needed residential care.
In other cases, an intervention is a carefully planned process that family and friends are brought in on, working with one of our therapeutic professionals. In this approach our team guides families and friends through challenging times, helping them understand their unique situation regarding a loved one struggling with substance use and mental health conditoins. Unlike therapists or motivational speakers, the interventionist’s primary focus is to create a roadmap for the family’s recovery, clarifying behaviors and fostering understanding.
Our team is versed in a variety of intervention approaches including the Brief Intervention method, an integrated approach to mental health and substance abuse treatment. Substance use and eating disorders are often co-occurring with significant mental health conditions including depression and anxiety as well as other mood and even thought disorders as well as personality disorders.
We also utilize the ARISE® intervention model, a compassionate invitational method that leads the loved one into appropriate treatment and recovery. The intervention is directed towards getting the affected loved one into treatment with the least possible effort through loving, compassionate and non-blaming support. The support system is mobilized to form a committed Intervention and family care team to motivate the individual into treatment.
Regardless of the intervention’s outcome, ongoing support is crucial. If the loved one declines help, we provide guidance for the family on how to manage this refusal. If they accept help, we assist the family in coping with transition and progress during treatment.
Intervention Steps:
- Set up a call and gather information.
- Make a Plan
- Form the Care Team.
- Decide on specific outcomes.
- Create a script for what to say.
- Schedule and hold the intervention.
- Help the family with holding limits and agreements until the outcome is achieved.

Treatment Placement & Care Coordination
Mental health and addictions treatment is a complex environment to navigate. Often time people and families don’t know where to start or what to do. Treatment placement and care coordination is a comprehensive approach designed to assist individuals in navigating the complex landscape of mental health services. This process involves assessing a person’s unique behavioral health needs, giving consideration to co-occurring conditions and personal preferences. Our team travels the country and visits hundreds of programs per year so that we can identify and recommend the right treatment options for our clients and effectively facilitate connections to appropriate providers and resources.
Our process for treatment placement and care coordination follow some basic steps…
Assessment and Evaluation: Our team conducts thorough evaluations to understand the individual’s mental health condition, challenges, and treatment preferences. This step is critical for determining the most effective approach to care.
Personalized Referral: Based on the assessment, individuals are matched with mental health professionals or treatment facilities that specialize in their specific needs. This could include therapists, psychiatrists, residential treatment centers, or outpatient programs with specific treatment specialties or facility.
Care Coordination: We work to ensure seamless communication between various providers involved in the individual’s care including the family. We help coordinate a care team, manage treatment plans, and provide support to both the individual and their families.
Follow-Up and Support: The process doesn’t end with placement, we follow up to monitor progress, address any concerns, and advocate for treatment adjustments as necessary to ensure ongoing support and effective outcomes.
Education and Advocacy: For the time we are involved we also educate our clients about mental health issues and diagnoses, treatment options, and available resources, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
Overall, good care coordination is essential for optimizing care, improving treatment outcomes, and enhancing the overall well-being of individuals dealing with behavioral health challenges. It ensures that people receive the right support at the right time, helping them to achieve and sustain their highest level of functioning and fulfillment. Let us help you find the right path through what can be a maze of options navigating to successful recovery.
